This post on X bears a front page allegedly from The Star newspaper’s February 29, 2024 issue.

Background

President William Ruto and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) have supported for opposition leader Raila Odinga’s bid for the African Union Commission chairmanship. Odinga and Ruto have come together to rally support for Odinga’s campaign. This move has raised concern among the public that the government could use this to weaken the opposition through tokenism. However, Raila affirmed to the public that his bid would not muffle the opposition, further promising that he would always be there when needed.

Verification

This front page does not match what was uploaded on The Star’s official X account and website. The headline on the legitimate front page reads “Wage crisis: Ruto team push for 55 more female MPs” while the headline on the doctored image reports on alleged cabinet jobs for Raila Odinga’s allies.

The Star dismissed (archived here) the front page as fake on their official account on X.

Verdict

The alleged The Star front page is FAKE.
